Anyone with a thing for hot emo dads is getting an early Christmas gift this winter.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, American Football<\/a>, forefather of the genre\u2019s second wave, added more dates to its world tour, including four in Florida.<\/p>\n

The Chicago quartet\u2014featuring Mike Kinsella, his cousin Nate Kinsella, Steve Holmes and Steve Lamos\u2014is on the road supporting its fourth self-titled EP. The record is the third part of a comeback for the band, which released its landmark debut in 1999 and then pretty much disappeared for the next decade-and-a-half.<\/p>\n

LP4<\/a> is American Football\u2019s first new album in seven years and finds Mike Kinsella treading heavily into the deeply personal lyricism that\u2019s long been a hallmark of his solo project, Owen. The 10-track headphones record is also another leap away from the iconic sound of their debut towards more sweeping indie-rock.<\/p>\n

The band\u2019s comeback brought American Football to Ybor City in 2018<\/a> when it made its Tampa debut at Orpheum<\/a>, then DJ\u2019d with Emo Night Tampa at The Bricks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A press release says that $1 for every ticket sold on the \u201cNo Feelings\u201d world tour kicking off June 19 in Italy \u201cwill go towards organizations protecting immigrant rights and supporting deportees, migrants and refugees.\u201d<\/p>\n

Openers for American Football\u2019s newly-announced Florida shows\u2014also happening in Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Jacksonville\u2014have not yet been announced.<\/p>\n
