The theme for this year’s Summer Reading Program for kids is “Plant a Seed, Read!” Just as a farm grows food that nourishes our bodies, libraries grow ideas that nourish our minds. The library invites kids to join it in cultivating those ideas this summer. The first opportunity to register for the program will be 10 a.m. Tuesday\u00a0at the program’s opening party. The library’s Adult Summer Reading Program has begun. Stop by the circulation desk to pick up a reading log for the chance to earn prizes for reading. Log five books you have read this summer and your name will be entered for a grand prize drawing on Aug. 2. You will get a small prize just for turning in your reading log. Any adult is eligible to participate; no library card is required. The program runs June 1-July 31.<\/p>\n
Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs\u2019 staff will be at the library on June 24 to help reunite citizens with missing money through the I-Cash program. In Morgan County, an estimated 45,000 people and businesses have unclaimed cash or property held by the treasurer\u2019s office. The value exceeds $6.7 million. Statewide, Frerichs secures more than $5 billion in unclaimed cash and property. Come to the library to see if you are owed missing money. This event will be from 4 to 7 p.m. June 24, 2026 at the library, 201 W.
