(CBS12) \u2014 A man was rescued by the <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs12.com\/search?find=U.S.+Coast+Guard+\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">U.S. Coast Guard <\/a>20 miles east of Miami Beach on Friday after being found aboard a disabled jet ski in inclement weather.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said the coordinated rescue involved multiple units working together under the command of U.S. Coast Guard Sector Miami, including crews from U.S. Coast Guard Station Miami Beach, U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Miami, the cutter U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Robert Yered, and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.<\/p>\n<p>Rescue crews located the mariner stranded as a storm moved through the area. Cmdr. Vladimir Jimenez, search and rescue mission coordinator for U.S. Coast Guard Sector Miami. \u201cThe safe recovery of this individual reflects the teamwork and coordination between our Southeast District Coast Guard crews and our partner agencies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officials say the incident underscores the risks of taking a watercraft, such as a jet ski, far offshore\u2014especially when weather conditions deteriorate or mechanical issues arise.<\/p>\n<p>The Coast Guard is reminding boaters and jet ski operators to check marine forecasts before heading out, carry proper safety equipment, and ensure their vessel is suited for offshore conditions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"MIAMI BEACH, Fla.
