The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted last week to award a contract that will complete a sidewalk project along Hancock Bridge Parkway that will span from U.S. 41 in North Fort Myers to Del Prado Boulevard in Cape Coral.<\/p>\n
The contract approved includes work from Hunter Boulevard to 1,000 feet east of Orange Grove Boulevard and will include:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Construction of a 6-foot-wide sidewalk<\/p>\n
\u2022 Water main installation<\/p>\n
\u2022 New fire hydrants<\/p>\n
\u2022 Minor road work with milling, paving and pavement markings<\/p>\n
\u2022 Drainage improvements<\/p>\n
\u2022 Irrigation control relocation<\/p>\n
\u2022 Pedestrian safety upgrades<\/p>\n
\u2022 Aluminum guiderails<\/p>\n
The $2.9 million contract is with Fort Myers-based Andrew Site Work LLC. Construction is expected to begin in August and take 14 months to complete.<\/p>\n
The project is a priority identified by the Lee County Bicycle\/Pedestrian advisory committee.<\/p>\n
