City of Tampa Chief Building Official JC Hudgison Named 2026 Building Official of the Year<\/p>\n
The City of Tampa is proud to announce that its Chief Building Official JC Hudgison has been named the 2026 Building Official of the Year by the Building Officials Association of Florida (BOAF). Hudgison was formally recognized at the BOAF Conference in Jacksonville this month.<\/p>\n
This prestigious recognition highlights Hudgison\u2019s leadership, technical expertise, and consistent dedication to excellence in building safety and code enforcement. In his role, he has played a key part in ensuring high standards across plan review, inspections, and code interpretation, contributing to the city\u2019s continued growth and resilience.<\/p>\n
Understanding challenges through the customer\u2019s lens, Hudgison has brought creativity to his portfolio with the introduction of virtual inspections and Permit Navigator, an online tool designed to help homeowners and applicants identify required permits through a simple, guided process.<\/p>\n
“JC\u2019s commitment to quality, consistency, and service\u2014whether through plan review, inspections, or code interpretation\u2014has made a lasting impact not only within DGM, but across the City of Tampa,” said Abbye Feeley, the City of Tampa\u2019s Development and Economic Opportunity Administrator. “This achievement comes at a fitting time, as JC also celebrates his 6-year anniversary with the City this spring. Both milestones reflect the dedication and professionalism he continues to demonstrate in his role.”<\/p>\n
Hudgison is currently leading the effort as the City\u2019s Building Department works to receive its accreditation with the International Accreditation Service (IAS). This certification proves a city meets strict national standards for permitting, plan reviews, inspections and more.<\/p>\n
