June is National Aphasia Awareness Month; Mayor Donna Deegan will recognize the millions of Americans living with aphasia.
\n\u00a0Aphasia is a communication disorder often caused by stroke that can affect a person’s ability to speak, understand, read, or write, but it does not affect intelligence.
\n\u00a0Former DCPS Police Chief Greg Burton who worked for JSO for 27 years had a major stroke in 2023. He survived, but woke up with global aphasia
\nLakesha Burton, his wife, has been by side loving him, learning about the condition and empowering him to do everything he desires to do!
