TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell says the department is increasing its efforts to address a recent rise in violent crime across the city.<\/p>\n
Eight people have been shot in three separate shootings over the last five days, including a shooting early Monday morning.<\/p>\n

Revell says the department is seeing more pop-up parties across Tallahassee, which he believes are contributing to many of the recent violent incidents.<\/p>\n
Over the last month, Revell says three people have died, and 13 others have been injured in shootings across the city. He says eight of those shootings involved large crowds.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt seems like the ones we are seeing now are happening almost instantaneously. Somebody posts something you know, everybody meet here, and within 30 minutes to an hour, the parking lot or the garage or the gas station is overrun with people,\u201d Revell said.<\/p>\n
The most recent shooting happened around 2 a.m. Monday outside Sharky\u2019s Lounge<\/a>, according to Tallahassee Police. Two men were injured.<\/p>\n Revell says the department is now increasing its efforts to track and respond to pop-up parties.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s been a lot of innocent bystanders that have been hit when these shootings occur. So when they occur, what I can assure you is we\u2019re going to find out who did it and we\u2019re going to arrest them and bring them to justice,\u201d Revell said.<\/p>\n More on crime in our area:<\/p>\n The department is assigning additional officers to patrol for this specific purpose, particularly in the area around Sharky\u2019s Lounge. Revell says officers are also monitoring social media for posts promoting pop-up parties and using drones to help monitor large gatherings.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re using technology in the sense that our new drone program is kicking off in full gear.
