{"id":301067,"date":"2026-06-09T08:35:59","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T08:35:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/301067\/"},"modified":"2026-06-09T08:35:59","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T08:35:59","slug":"fifa-fever-builds-in-south-florida-as-world-cup-is-just-days-away-wsvn-7news-miami-news-weather-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/301067\/","title":{"rendered":"FIFA fever builds in South Florida as World Cup is just days away &#8211; WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MIAMI (WSVN) &#8211; The FIFA World Cup is now just days away, and as the countdown begins, the FIFA fever and fan frenzy are already here.<\/p>\n<p>A tournament filled with dramatic finishes and stunning scores will host some games in South Florida at Miami Stadium, the venue otherwise known as Hard Rock Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very excited for the FIFA games, we\u2019re very excited for the competition, for the matches,\u201d said a soccer fan. <\/p>\n<p>The FIFA fever started with a community <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/fifa-hosts-community-tournament-at-lummus-park-for-world-cup-opening-ceremony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">soccer tournament at Lummus Park<\/a>, where kids wrapped up the Copa Del Sol.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m going for Spain, France, Brazil,\u201d said soccer fan Rosalia Perez.<\/p>\n<p>Fans said the FIFA madness is getting them hyped up for the World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have been here for all three days, and I like that the World Cup came to Miami,\u201d said soccer fan Antonio Williams.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, on Lincoln Road, fans brought out their treasures at a World Cup sticker trading event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m trading for the World Cup sticker albums,\u201d said a soccer fan. <\/p>\n<p>The host of the World Cup Sticker Trading Event, Kevin Kitsos, explained how the event works.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery four years we have the World Cup, and Panini releases a sticker album, and you can collect the stickers, and you can trade your duplicates,\u201d said Kitsos.<\/p>\n<p>Fans hoped to get their hands on the best.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy blue Messi, it\u2019s super rare,\u201d said a soccer fan. <\/p>\n<p>Close by on Ocean Drive are inflatable soccer stars.<\/p>\n<p>The giant inflatables, <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/entertainment\/world-cup-excitement-builds-as-20-foot-inflatable-of-lionel-messi-goes-on-display-outside-of-nu-stadium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">one of Lionel Messi<\/a>, make the perfect photo op.<\/p>\n<p>Vibrant flags representing every country in the World Cup can be seen on Ocean Drive and Fifth Street.<\/p>\n<p>7SkyForce hovered above the preparations for FIFA Fan Fest at Bayfront Park scheduled to kick off Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Influencers are also posting some sneak peeks on social media, showing viewers some of what\u2019s in store, like a fan zone with areas to watch the game and giant soccer balls.<\/p>\n<p>The FIFA World Cup\u2019s Instagram account showed viewers different stages where soccer fans could see some performances at the FIFA Fan Fest.<\/p>\n<p>But as the excitement builds, all will be under heavy security.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of federal, state and local agencies will be working together throughout the seven matches in Miami Gardens to ensure fun, but safety first.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can confidently say that the work being done to ensure the safety and security of this event is strong,\u201d said FBI Deputy Director Andrew Bailey. <\/p>\n<p>The first match at the Hard Rock is set for June 15.<\/p>\n<p>Soccer fans can also catch all the World Cup fun on WSVN Channel 7, starting Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Sunbeam Television Corp.
