PETERSBURG, FLA. \u2014 A St. Petersburg man was arrested on Sunday after he attacked a dog with a shovel, authorities said. <\/p>\n<p>The St. Petersburg Police Department charged Christopher Toliver, 37, with cruelty to animals.<\/p>\n<p>According to two witness statements, Toliver struck a dog with a shovel in the head at a home on 17th Avenue South, a Pinellas County arrest affidavit stated. <\/p>\n<p>In a text message to another person, Toliver wrote, \u201c I hit the dog with the shovel three times in the head,\u201d the report stated.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses said they saw Toliver hit the dog repeatedly in the head with the shovel. <\/p>\n<p>The report did not state who owned the dog or the condition of the canine after the attack. <\/p>\n<p>Toliver was additionally charged with battery after punching his girlfriend on the side of the head.<\/p>\n<p>He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/CHAD.MILLS.png\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Husband cooperated with police in case of four Plant City deaths: Attorney<\/p>\n<p>Search warrants filed by the Plant City Police Department provided more information on the shooting that left four dead in May.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney says husband cooperated with police in case involving four deaths in Plant City<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ST.
