{"id":301345,"date":"2026-06-09T14:33:28","date_gmt":"2026-06-09T14:33:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/301345\/"},"modified":"2026-06-09T14:33:28","modified_gmt":"2026-06-09T14:33:28","slug":"fsu-alumni-launch-ai-startup-to-make-legislation-more-accessible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/301345\/","title":{"rendered":"FSU alumni launch AI startup to make legislation more accessible"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t<img src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/FEat-1-1200x800.jpg\" class=\"img-responsive wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/>Delilah Founder John Visconti and COO Matthew Koziol aim to make legislation more accessible and easier to understand.\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Florida State University alumni are\u00a0using artificial intelligence to help make legislation easier to understand.<\/p>\n<p>Their startup,\u00a0Delilah,\u00a0is\u00a0an AI-powered platform\u00a0that summarizes complex bills and allows users to ask questions about proposed laws\u00a0through a conversational interface.\u00a0\u00a0Founded by\u00a0recent FSU graduates\u00a0with\u00a0experience in government and public policy, the company has gained\u00a0national attention, reaching the Top 100 on the App Store.<\/p>\n<p>Delilah,\u00a0short for Dashboard for Economic and Legislative Insights with Live Analytics and History,\u00a0grew\u00a0out of\u00a0founder Joseph Visconti\u2019s experience as a gubernatorial fellow\u00a0at the Florida Capitol.<\/p>\n<p>Working closely with legislation,\u00a0he saw firsthand\u00a0how difficult it\u00a0can be\u00a0for citizens to navigate\u00a0bills\u00a0that can\u00a0span\u00a0hundreds of pages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have these really long bills that do important things, but they\u2019re\u00a0extremely\u00a0hard to read\u00a0and understand,\u201d Visconti said.\u00a0\u201cWe wanted to make these bills accessible\u00a0and comprehensible\u00a0for people who aren\u2019t working in government.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Delilah\u00a0allows users to ask questions about\u00a0federal,\u00a0state\u00a0and local\u00a0legislation,\u00a0receive summaries and\u00a0access\u00a0links to the original\u00a0bill\u00a0text.\u00a0The team says the platform is designed to help users\u00a0research\u00a0public policy without\u00a0specialized legal or\u00a0legislative\u00a0expertise.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/news.fsu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-08-at-11.34.jpg\" class=\"fresco\" data-fresco-caption=\"Delilah\u00a0allows users to ask questions about\u00a0federal,\u00a0state\u00a0and local\u00a0legislation,\u00a0receive summaries and\u00a0access\u00a0links to the original\u00a0bill\u00a0text.\" aria-labelledby=\"img-caption-128743-0\" data-fresco-group=\"gallery-30aa3bca\" data-fresco-options=\"thumbnail:&#039;https:\/\/news.fsu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-08-at-11.34-1600x900.jpg&#039;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Delilah\u00a0allows users to ask questions about\u00a0federal,\u00a0state\u00a0and local\u00a0legislation,\u00a0receive summaries and\u00a0access\u00a0links to the original\u00a0bill\u00a0text.<\/p>\n<p>The Delilah team includes several FSU graduates and students whose experiences in Tallahassee\u2019s\u00a0government and policy community\u00a0helped shape the platform. Team members have worked in the governor\u2019s office, the Florida\u00a0Senate\u00a0and the Florida Technology Council, giving them\u00a0insight into how legislation\u00a0is developed and communicated.<\/p>\n<p>Visconti,\u00a0a 2025 graduate\u00a0from the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Social Sciences and Public Policy,\u00a0who studied history and economics,\u00a0credits\u00a0Florida State\u2019s location in the state capital\u00a0with helping to inspire the company\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s cool about going to Florida State is that\u00a0the campus\u00a0is\u00a0in such close proximity to the state\u00a0Capitol, and that alone presents so many opportunities,\u201d Visconti said.\u00a0\u201cOne of the biggest resources FSU brought us\u00a0was\u00a0the\u00a0ability to be close to the\u00a0state\u00a0government and have firsthand experience\u00a0in legislation, which\u00a0we\u00a0honed\u00a0and\u00a0are now\u00a0applying\u00a0into Delilah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Delilah\u2019s leadership also includes\u00a0Chief Technology Officer\u00a0Matthew Koziol, an FSU student studying\u00a0computer science and economics;\u00a0and\u00a0Head of\u00a0Marketing Olivia McLean, an\u00a0FSU\u00a0alumna\u00a0who\u00a0studied\u00a0political science.<\/p>\n<p>The team credits FSU\u2019s student community and campus networks with\u00a0helping\u00a0Delilah grow.\u00a0Koziol\u00a0said involvement in campus organizations and Greek life helped build\u00a0relationships\u00a0that later supported the startup\u2019s outreach\u00a0and expansion\u00a0efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Since launching, Delilah has focused on\u00a0helping users engage with\u00a0legislative information, particularly younger audiences\u00a0who may be less familiar with the policymaking process. The company recently developed an AI system\u00a0tailored\u00a0specifically\u00a0to\u00a0legislative research\u00a0and policy analysis.<\/p>\n<p>The startup\u2019s broader mission\u00a0centers\u00a0on civic literacy and transparency.
