There have you been some reports from Lee County residents that they felt reverberations in their homes from a 6.1 magnitude earthquake that was reported off the coast of Cuba earlier this afternoon. <\/p>\n
There were no immediate reports of any damage in the county from the earthquake.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe felt the shaking. Several residents did as well,\u201d Fort Myers Beach Public Information Officer Abigail Eberhart said. Eberhart said there was \u201cno damage and no reported negative impacts to Fort Myers Beach.\u201d<\/p>\n
There were no calls for service on Fort Myers Beach, according to Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District Chief Scott Wirth. <\/p>\n
The Lee County Sheriff\u2019s Office said they had no calls for service.<\/p>\n
Lee County spokesperson Betsy Clayton said the county\u2019s facilities team \u201cconducted visual inspections, and no damage is reported to county buildings.
