It\u2019s part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.broward.org\/Purchasing\/Documents\/RLIRFPAgendaInformationNew\/GEN2129421P1\/GEN2129421P1%20B%20-%20Submittal%20-%20Motorola%20Solutions%20Connectivity,%20Inc.%20dba%20Motorola.pdf\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.broward.org\/Purchasing\/Documents\/RLIRFPAgendaInformationNew\/GEN2129421P1\/GEN2129421P1%20B%20-%20Submittal%20-%20Motorola%20Solutions%20Connectivity,%20Inc.%20dba%20Motorola.pdf\">an agreement with Motorola<\/a> that will cost $25 million over the next decade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Similar technology is <a href=\"https:\/\/carbyne.com\/resources\/press\/miami-dade-county-police-department-upgrades-9-1-1-operations-with-industry-leading-emergency-response-technology-from-carbyne\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/carbyne.com\/resources\/press\/miami-dade-county-police-department-upgrades-9-1-1-operations-with-industry-leading-emergency-response-technology-from-carbyne\/\">already being used<\/a> in Miami-Dade County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cThis takes it to a whole another level of technology,\u201d Broward Mayor Mark Bogen said. \u201cThis is like going from the modem to high-speed internet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The system will also allow callers to send recorded video.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cYou can actually send a video to the 911 operator to show where you are at, to show what is going on,\u201d Bogen said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It will also have enhanced digital location-tracking capabilities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIt gives the person answering the phone more opportunity to know what is going on and also to help identify that person and their location more accurately,\u201d Bogen said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">All together, Bogen said the upgrade \u201creally gives our law enforcement and 911 dispatch such a much bigger picture of how they can provide help to the person in need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIt is worth providing the safety to the public,\u201d he said. \u201cSaving one life is worth it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The new system is set to come online by mid-2028.<\/p>\n<p>\ud83c\udfe0 News From Your Neighborhood<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-article-body__copyright\">Copyright 2026 by WPLG Local10.com &#8211; All rights reserved.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Christina Vazquez\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/https:\/\/author-service-images-sandbox-us-east-1.publishing.aws.arc.pub\/wplginc\/45804c80-b6e4-45e1-95.jpeg\"  width=\"100\" height=\"100\"\/>Christina Vazquez<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-author-bio__author-description\">Christina returned to Local 10 in 2019 as a reporter after covering Hurricane Dorian for the station.
