JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 Action News Jax just received hundreds of pages of documents related to the ongoing legal issues involving JEA.<\/p>\n
Our station, along with other news organizations, requested the records following a February State Attorney\u2019s Office subpoena<\/a> of communications to and from Jacksonville City Council President Kevin Carrico.<\/p>\n >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<<<\/a><\/p>\n This followed an Action News Jax Investigation revealing how Carrico tried to get his boss at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida, Paul Martinez, appointed to the JEA board.<\/p>\n We were the first to show you a text from Carrico<\/a> to now-JEA board vice-chair Arthur Adams where Carrico said he \u201cowed a big favor.\u201d<\/p>\n [SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter<\/a>] <\/p>\n The documents are extensive and show everything from text messages mentioning our coverage of this story and letters written to Jacksonville City Council members.<\/p>\n One document in the hundreds of pages we\u2019re reviewing is a letter from a Jacksonville man addressed to City Council members. <\/p>\n In it, he writes about replacing Adams on the JEA board. He asks \u201cWho wants this? Why now? The president of the City Council is not popular right now.\u201d<\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/a>]<\/p>\n The letter goes on to say, \u201cNo one who pays attention understands this \u2018big favor.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n In another email, someone emailed Carrico seemingly mocking the situation by saying \u201cWhat\u2019s up bro. Can you get me appointed to the board of JEA? I would consider it a big favor.
