The Miami Book Fair, presented by Miami Dade College, returns for its 42nd edition from November 16 to 23, bringing together more than 550 authors from more than 35 countries across six continents. It’s the nation’s longest-running literary festival, initially launched in 1984.

Founded as a joint effort by Miami Dade College, then Miami-Dade Community College, the Miami-Dade Public Library System and local bookstores, the Book Fair has grown into a massive street-fair meets author‐talks festival that sprawls through Downtown Miami’s Wolfson campus and the surrounding area.

There will be eight days of author panels, live music, book signings, international food trucks, and thousands of books in multiple languages lining endless tables.

The main-stage program features big-name guests this year, including Padma Lakshmi, Larry Charles, Art Spiegelman, and Edwidge Danticat.

Kenny Chesney. -PHOTO CREDIT: DANNY CLINCH

Extra special this year, the “Evenings With” series will feature country music superstar Kenny Chesney. On Sunday, November 16, at 7:00 p.m., Chesney will open up about his new book, “Heart Life Music.” His appearance promises anecdotes, reflections, and behind-the-scenes stories.

Chesney will be joined by award-winning music critic and journalist, and his longtime friend and co-writer, Holly Gleason, who co-authored Chesney’s 2025 memoir.

“It’s a great story that affirms that Springsteen adage ‘It ain’t no sin to be glad you’re alive,’” explains Gleason. “Whether you’re into sports – and read about Kenny and the New Orleans Saints Super Bowl win in Miami (trust me, a great story), or unthinkable moments – being asked to play Sammy Hagar’s birthday party in Cabo, then leaving having written the iconic “Beer In Mexico” – these are the moments us mere mortals will never see. He’s got that charmed Ferris Bueller thing, and the heroes who end up being his friends: Jimmy Buffett, the Wailers, Eddie and Alex Van Halen, Steve Miller, as well as George Jones and Willie Nelson. It is fantasy camp.
It also reminds you: there’s magic everywhere, don’t miss it; because the more you see, the more you’ll find.”

Author Holly Gleason is a Palm Beach County resident. -PHOTO CREDIT: ALISTER ANN

Gleason, who also co-wrote Chesney’s 2008 #1 hit “Better as a Memory” under the pseudonym Lady Goodman is a West Palm Beach resident and a recurring presenter at the fair. “I love, love, love the Miami Book Fair! I’ve seen Patti Smith, Richard Ford, Edwidge Danticat and Evelyn McDonnell on Joan Didion! It is always such a great place to find island and Latin writers, but they recognize science, pop culture, and social commentary to create this gorgeous stained glass that lets so many kinds of light in,” Gleason says. “And the attendees, who are equally diverse, are all people who are seekers, open to the programming.”

So, whether you’re a dedicated reader or a music fan, the 2025 Miami Book Fair promises something special.
