(WCTV) &#8211; The Tallahassee Police Department says school speed zone cameras are off for the summer. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The cameras turned off after May 22 will stay off until the first day of school in August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">However, TPD is reminding drivers that tickets for violations in May could still be in the mail and arrive over the next few weeks. They also say that during the school year, the cameras are operating even when the lights aren\u2019t flashing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Ultimately, the cameras led to more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wctv.tv\/2026\/06\/08\/tallahassee-school-zone-speed-cameras-issued-44k-tickets-during-2025-26-school-year\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.wctv.tv\/2026\/06\/08\/tallahassee-school-zone-speed-cameras-issued-44k-tickets-during-2025-26-school-year\/\">than 44,000 violations<\/a> this past school year, with about 40% still unpaid. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The speed enforcement cameras were made possible by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flsenate.gov\/Session\/Bill\/2023\/657\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">House Bill 657<\/a>, signed by Florida Gov.
