(WCTV) &#8211; A Leon County property owner is trying to have his land annexed into the city <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The property is on North Meridian Road near Lake Jackson, and is 1,700 acres. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">County commissioners rejected Jeffrey Phipps\u2019 development efforts last year. This current effort would put the property inside city limits and subject it to city decisions on development. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Friends of Lake Jackson previously pushed back on the plan due to the environmental impact, and there was continued pushback on Wednesday afternoon from a financial point of view. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe number one strong town\u2019s opinion is if the long-term costs of maintaining our wonderful service standards exceeds the long-term tax revenue of the land, then that\u2019s not a financially sound decision.
