HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) \u2014 Two 16-year-olds from St. Petersburg were arrested Wednesday after they led a high-speed chase through Hillsborough County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.<\/p>\n

Around 1:30 a.m., troopers said they responded to a call from the Pasco County Sheriff\u2019s Office to assist with the pursuit of a Toyota Highlander.<\/p>\n

The pursuit began on Interstate 75 near mile marker 257.<\/p>\n

Troopers continued to follow the Highlander on I-75 until the suspects took the exit to the Selmon Expressway.<\/p>\n

There, troopers said the suspects drove into the grass median between the mainline and exit ramp in an attempt to evade them.<\/p>\n

The suspects then drove back onto the exit ramp and continued on the Selmon Expressway until exiting again at U.S. 301.<\/p>\n

According to troopers, the suspects \u201ccontinued to evade\u201d them, driving up to 120 mph and running red lights.<\/p>\n

FHP said the suspect began to lose control of the vehicle near Stannum Street.<\/p>\n

One of the troopers attempted to perform a precision immobilization technique (PIT), but the driver managed to regain control of the vehicle.<\/p>\n

The trooper attempted another PIT maneuver on the other side of the vehicle, sending the Highlander toward the median at U.S. 301 and Columbus Drive.<\/p>\n

Two 16-year-olds in the vehicle were arrested and taken to the juvenile center.<\/p>\n
