The Syracuse Mets offense was largely quiet today garnering only two runs on six hits with zero walks. Ryan Clifford continues to struggle while Kevin Parada has continued his hot stretch. The game was called after only five innings so the Syracuse Mets never got a chance to try to claw back.<\/p>\n
RHP Jonah Tong<\/a>: 4.0 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 4 K (L) Jonah Tong pitched on longer than usual rest and had a weird start. His velocity was down, but more concerning than that was that his induced vertical break on his fastball was not just down, it was legitimately bad. Tong has usually averaged 19-20 inches of break but today averaged 15.5 inches. It is possible some of those fastballs were cutters that got confused as fastballs, and he did top out at 19.7 inches of iVB, but this is something to watch. A misclassification would also explain why his fastball velocity was down while every other pitch was either the same or up. On the plus side, his new curveball\/slider\/slurve pitch continues to look better from the new arm slot.<\/p>\n Double-A<\/p>\n Somerset (31-27) 10, Binghamton (23-35) 2<\/p>\n Box Score<\/a><\/p>\n The Rumble Ponies offense was quiet today amassing only two runs on two hits and five walks. Jacob Reimer<\/a> continued his hot start to June logging another hit. Chris Suero<\/a> continues to look like a three true outcome player while Eli Serrano<\/a> continues to struggle.<\/p>\n RHP RJ Gordon: 3.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 K (L) The defense absolutely failed the pitching today, but the pitching still was not strong allowing ten total runs. While they struck out eleven, they walked too many batters. RJ Gordon continues to struggle heavily and is now up to a 9.19 ERA.<\/p>\n High-A<\/p>\n Frederick (36-19) 3, Brooklyn Cyclones (22-35) 0<\/p>\n Box Score<\/a><\/p>\n The Brooklyn Cyclones offense was silent today failing to score a run on only four hits and one walk. John Bay<\/a> continues to be their best hitter and he only has a .783 OPS. Mitch Voit<\/a> has been banged up but better lately though he failed to get a hit today.<\/p>\n RHP Jose Chirinos<\/a>: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 10 K (L) Despite being the losing pitcher on record Jose Chirinos had a strong start striking out ten across six innings. He ran an incredible 52.3% whiff rate and despite three walks overall attacked the zone. For the most part he has been a command over stuff pitcher but today he ran up the strikeouts. Photo by Ed Delany of Metsmerized<\/p>\n Single-A<\/p>\n St. Lucie (26-32) 7, Palm Beach (30-28) 0\u00a0<\/p>\n Box Score<\/a><\/p>\n The one offense that showed up today in true force was the St. Lucie offense, scoring seven runs across seven hits and three walks. Elian Pe\u00f1a<\/a> has struggled for the past five weeks and even though he went hitless today was still productive. Antonio Jimenez<\/a> has looked incredible since he was sent down to Single-A, while Jeremy Rodriguez<\/a> has continued to struggle heavily. Trey Snyder, now back from an injury, has started off hot hitting a triple today. That 102.4 miles per hour hit was his hardest of the season so far. Snyder joined the organization in 2024 as a fifth round pick, and signed for almost triple his slot value.<\/p>\n Cam Tilly had a rough first two months of his season but this was his second scoreless outing in a row bringing his season ERA from 6.44 to 4.91. Cam Tilly threw 6.1 hitless innings across 80 pitches with a 26.5% whiff rate and 29.8% chase rate. He only averaged 91.5 miles per hour on his fastball and topped out at 93.4 miles per hour. On the season his fastest pitch has been 95.1 miles per hour, down from 97 in 2025. If he wants to take the next step forward and hit the value he was projected at before the season he will need to see that velocity start to tick up. His slider is probably his best pitch, coming in with over 2,800 rpm of spin and over 15 inches of horizontal break.<\/p>\n Elwis Mijares is another right-handed pitcher but he throws from a low slot and generates significantly more whiff, today sitting at 47.1%. His arm slot if deceptive and he runs plus spin rates across his pitches. His fastball and sinker sat at 94.8 miles per hour today but his high spin cutter\/slider combo is where his value really sits.<\/p>\n FCL Mets<\/p>\n FCL Nationals (14-12) 17, FCL Mets (11-14) 1<\/p>\n Box Score<\/a><\/p>\n The FCL Mets offense overall struggled while their pitching also faltered. Yovanny Rodriguez<\/a> does continue to impress and could force his way up quickly.<\/p>\n RHP Ethan Lanthier<\/a>: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K The FCL Mets pitching struggled heavily giving up 17 runs and walking 14 batters. They struggled to throw strikes and let too many balls get in play.<\/p>\n DSL Mets Orange<\/p>\n DSL Angels (6-1) 15, DSL Mets Orange (4-3) 6<\/p>\n Box Score<\/a><\/p>\n The DSL Mets Orange offense performed well but it was not enough to make up for the pitching issues. Jhonael Cuello continues to perform well and hit his first home run of the season. Aiberson Blanco had a big game but the remainder of the offense outside of Sebastian Toro<\/a> has struggled so far.<\/p>\n LHP Greison Acosta<\/a>: 2.0 IP, 4 H, 6 ER, 3 BB, 2 K (L) The DSL Met Orange pitchers all struggled. They all walked too many batters, gave up too many hits, and the other team teed runs off them.<\/p>\n
