(WSVN) &#8211; Jurors in the trial of real estate developer George Pino examined the boat he was operating during the fatal 2022 boating accident that took the life of a teenage girl.<\/p>\n<p>Those jurors arrived at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission\u2019s facility in North Miami at around 11 a.m. on Thursday and assessed the damages on the vessel as evidence.<\/p>\n<p>The boat could be seen with heavy damage to the right side of the hull.<\/p>\n<p>And now that vessel is evidence against Pino, who\u2019s accused of causing the death of 17-year-old Lucy Fernandez and forever changing the life of Katie Puig.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors said Pino was going the wrong way and plowed into a channel marker near Boca Chita Key on Labor Day weekend of 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday was the first time jurors saw the boat up close as part of day four in the real estate mogul\u2019s trial.<\/p>\n<p>Jurors looked at the boat for about 40 minutes. Once finished, they were transported back to courthouse for testimony to continue.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, body camera video of the desperate attempt to save Fernandez\u2019s life after the crash <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvn.com\/news\/local\/miami-dade\/jury-watches-fwc-bodycam-video-marine-patrol-officer-and-sergeant-takes-the-stand-on-day-3-of-george-pinos-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">was shown in court<\/a> as Fernandez\u2019s family watched. The victim\u2019s loved ones wept as jurors viewed the footage.<\/p>\n<p>Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office Sgt. Peter Delgado described the chaos when he arrived at the crash.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExtremely difficult,\u201d said Delgado.<\/p>\n<p>Delgado testified that he transported the 17-year-old from a Good Samaritan\u2019s boat back to the harbor, where she was airlifted to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe made the decision that we need to go back and help the other patients,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Pino\u2019s wife also took the stand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd she died because your husband crashed into that channel marker, right?\u201d asked a prosecutor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe died because there was an accident,\u201d said Pino\u2019s wife.<\/p>\n<p>She testified that she only had one or two drinks at the sandbar, and Pino\u2019s defense team have insisted their client was not impaired.<\/p>\n<p>Testimony is set to continue Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 Sunbeam Television Corp.
