McKean Pavilion, a project designed to expand and modernize the museum\u2019s educational and event spaces.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"379\" data-end=\"729\">Located behind the museum at 161 W. Canton Ave., the current pavilion has served as the institution\u2019s programming hub since 1995, when a former bank building was adapted for museum use. The replacement facility will add approximately 3,000 square feet of flexible space while maintaining the existing building\u2019s footprint and architectural character.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandomagazine.com\/content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/p\/e\/chmf-202606-morse-museum-pavilion-chmfemgf.jpg\" data-lb-width=\"2400\" data-lb-height=\"1600\" class=\" photoswipe gtxlightbox\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-320427 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/chmf-202606-morse-museum-pavilion-chmfemgf-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Chmf 202606 Morse Museum Pavilion Chmfemgf\" width=\"770\" height=\"514\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Courtesy Morse Museum<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"731\" data-end=\"1020\">\u201cThe current building was never designed for the way we use it today,\u201d said museum director and chief curator Jennifer Thalheimer. She noted that the new pavilion will better support growing programming needs, evolving technology, and expanded community outreach efforts.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1022\" data-end=\"1268\">Designed by Winter Park architects Susan Gantt and Ed Gantt, the pavilion will complement the museum\u2019s Mediterranean-style campus while providing updated interiors and improved functionality.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1270\" data-end=\"1614\">The museum will remain open throughout the construction process, which is expected to take at least a year. Programs will continue at various locations on campus and at off-site venues.
