The event fosters thought-provoking conversation, mentorship, and inspiration\u2014qualities embodied by this year\u2019s guest speaker.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur annual Women Who Lead luncheon is a signature event celebrating the voices and leadership of women who drive meaningful change,\u201d said Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega. \u201cLucy Liu\u2019s remarkable career as an artist and dedicated advocate will inspire students and the community to lead with vision and courage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Liu is internationally recognized for her groundbreaking career spanning film, television, and the arts. She has starred in box office hits that have grossed more than $3.7 billion worldwide, including \u201cKill Bill,\u201d \u201cCharlie\u2019s Angels,\u201d \u201cChicago,\u201d \u201cSet It Up,\u201d \u201cPresence,\u201d and \u201cRed One.\u201d She recently produced and stars in the indie feature \u201cRosemead,\u201d which will receive its Florida Premiere at Miami Film Festival\u2019s GEMS Festival this month, where Liu will also be honored with the Precious Gem Award, the Festival\u2019s highest distinction.<\/p>\n<p>Her creative reach extends beyond acting. Liu has produced and championed documentaries such as Freedom\u2019s Fury and Redlight, earned Emmy nominations for Ally McBeal and The Pirate Queen (VR), and exhibited her visual art worldwide. A longtime UNICEF Ambassador, she has used her platform to advocate for children, equity, and human rights. In 2019, Liu became the second Asian American woman in nearly 60 years to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.<\/p>\n<p>Women Who Lead has featured many talented and inspiring women over the years, including Kelly Bishop, Kerry Washington, Nicolette Brent, all using their platforms to spark change through education.
