A teenager shot by a Jacksonville deputy Saturday night remains in critical condition, police said Sunday. <\/p>\n
The incident happened after a short chase involving a stolen car in the Brentwood area.<\/p>\n
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office, officers spotted the stolen car and tried to stop it. The driver sped off and crashed into a police vehicle and a nearby building on Myrtle Avenue. <\/p>\n
After the crash, multiple people ran from the car.<\/p>\n
JSO says one officer chased a suspect who refused to follow commands and kept reaching into his pants. <\/p>\n
That\u2019s when the officer fired, hitting the suspect. The officer, identified as Jacob Cahill, was not seriously hurt, though another officer suffered a broken nose in the crash.<\/p>\n
The suspect was taken to the hospital, where he is still in critical condition. <\/p>\n
This marks the 15th officer-involved shooting in Jacksonville this year. <\/p>\n
