A driver is in custody after he allegedly fled a traffic stop before he was caught on foot on Thursday night, authorities said. <\/p>\n
The Florida Highway Patrol said they briefly stopped a silver SUV on State Road 826 (Palmetto Expressway) near Northwest 36th Street at around 9:11 p.m. <\/p>\n
The SUV then fled with troopers in pursuit, FHP said. Authorities tried to stop the vehicle with a PIT maneuver in the area of Southwest 1st Street and 44th Avenue, but were unsuccessful and lost sight of the SUV. <\/p>\n
While canvassing the area, Miami police officers found the “driver fleeing on foot and apprehended him,” according to FHP. <\/p>\n
The SUV was later found at a nearby residential complex.<\/p>\n
