{"id":305408,"date":"2026-06-12T17:08:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-12T17:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/305408\/"},"modified":"2026-06-12T17:08:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T17:08:09","slug":"former-mayor-subpoenaed-for-deposition-in-anderson-residency-lawsuit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/305408\/","title":{"rendered":"Former mayor\u00a0subpoenaed for deposition in Anderson residency lawsuit\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/theapopkachief.com\/court-sets-competency-hearing-for-man-who-threatened-to-kill-nelson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Former Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson<\/a>\u00a0is scheduled to be deposed next week in the lawsuit challenging\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/theapopkachief.com\/lawsuit-challenging-anderson-residency-dismissed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">City Commissioner Nadia Anderson\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0residency, according to court records.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nelson is scheduled to be questioned under oath at 1:30 p.m. June 16 at McLeod Law Firm in Apopka. Anderson is scheduled to be deposed\u00a0at 9:30 a.m.\u00a0the\u00a0same\u00a0day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The lawsuit, filed by Apopka resident William J. McLeod, asks the court to\u00a0determine\u00a0whether Anderson met the\u00a0city of Apopka\u2019s residency requirements before her March 2024 election and whether she has\u00a0maintained\u00a0residency within city limits while serving in office.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Become A Member<\/p>\n<p>The Apopka Chief does not have a paywall, but pavement-pounding journalism is not free. Join your neighbors who make this vital work possible.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"in-article__cta\" class=\"ct-link-button btn--m btn--secondary mdn-support-button\" href=\"https:\/\/theapopkachief.com\/become-a-member?ref=in_article_cta\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">See Member Benefits<\/a><a class=\"ct-link-button btn--m btn--primary\" href=\"https:\/\/theapopkachief.com\/newsletter-signup?ref=in_article_cta\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Join Our Newsletter<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Court records show Nelson was subpoenaed and personally served May 25.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anderson declined\u00a0an interview request.\u00a0Her\u00a0attorney, Phil Kaprow, told\u00a0The\u00a0Apopka\u00a0Chief\u00a0that\u00a0the residency allegations are without merit.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c[Her position on the claims is that] the claims are unfounded, that she\u2019s established a residency, and that the city clerk validated the residency claims, and this is nothing more than political theater,\u201d Kaprow said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kaprow said he expects Anderson to\u00a0comply with\u00a0the deposition notice.
