ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) \u2014 The family of one of the victims killed in the deadly Florida Turnpike <\/a>crash nearly a year ago has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.<\/p>\n

According to court documents, the family of the victim, Faniola Joseph, alleges that Harjinder Singh<\/a> made an illegal U-turn that blocked the highway, killing Joseph and two others. The family is suing Singh and White Hawk Carriers, the trucking company that employed him, alleging the company failed to properly hire, train and supervise him.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit also names Harpreet Singh, the company’s manager, alleging he failed to properly investigate, hire, train and supervise Harjinder Singh before allowing him to drive. It also names C.H. Robinson, the freight broker, accusing the company of negligently selecting and retaining White Hawk Carriers despite its safety record.<\/p>\n

The family is seeking compensation for mental pain and suffering, loss of support and companionship, funeral and burial expenses, medical costs, lost future earnings and other damages, according to court documents.<\/p>\n

In August 2025, Harjinder Singh was arrested in connection<\/a> with a deadly crash on the Florida Turnpike in St. Lucie County. Investigators said Singh made a U-turn in an official-use-only area, causing a minivan to crash into the truck. All three people inside the minivan were killed.<\/p>\n

The victims were identified as Faniola Joseph<\/a>, 37; Herby Dufresne, 29; and Rodrigue Dor, 54.<\/p>\n

In October, a funeral was held for Joseph, of Pompano Beach, and Dufresne, of Princeton. Following the service, Joseph and Dufresne were buried at Palms Woodlawn Cemetery in Naranja.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla.
