Truax.

Senator Darryl Rouson’s retirement from the State Senate marks the end of one of Florida’s most remarkable public service journeys.

But his greatest victory came before politics.

Nearly three decades ago, Rouson was struggling with addiction, homelessness, and uncertainty about his future. He earned a law degree, married Angela, and together they raised a family.

He leaves the Florida Senate after 18 years in the Legislature, now a leading voice on mental health, substance abuse recovery, and community development.

His story is a reminder that second chances do matter. Through faith, perseverance, and service, Rouson transformed personal adversity into public purpose.

That’s not just a political success story. It’s a human one.

From the NewsTalk 1040 studios, I’m Greg C. Truax.

Greg C.
