ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. \u2014 Dozens gathered in the Tampa Bay area Friday to remember the victims of Orlando\u2019s Pulse nightclub shooting.<\/p>\n
They held a remembrance ceremony at 25th Street and Central Avenue in St. Petersburg. After the ceremony, many grabbed some chalk and wrote tributes on the sidewalk.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m writing ‘We Remember Pulse,’\u201d said St. Pete resident Daniel Glennon.<\/p>\n
For many, it\u2019s hard not to remember Pulse, especially a decade after the shooting.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s taken a very large toll,\u201d said St. Pete resident Nathan Martinez.<\/p>\n
Martinez lost a very good friend at Pulse. He came up with the idea for Friday\u2019s remembrance so the community could pause, reflect and jot down a few thoughts.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt could have been any one of us, and unfortunately it was them. And I think we owe it to them to never forget,\u201d Glennon said.<\/p>\n
Last year, there was a Pride street mural on 25th\u00a0Street and Central Avenue in St. Pete. That mural is gone and replaced by chalked tributes. One message names all 49 victims.<\/p>\n
Martinez said he knows his friend is watching.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he\u2019s proud of us,\u201d Martinez said.<\/p>\n
The Pulse remembrance was organized with the help of St. Pete Pride, Justice Over Everything, Contigo Fund and the Democratic Hispanic Caucus of Florida.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"ST.
