JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 City leaders and preservation advocates unveiled the new Lift Ev\u2019ry Voice & Sing Heritage Trail in Jacksonville\u2019s LaVilla neighborhood. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is an area that has so much rich history and we want to make people aware of it,\u201d said Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan. <\/p>\n
The trail is about two miles long and has 22 sites where people can read and learn more about LaVilla\u2019s rich history. <\/p>\n
>>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<<<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cIt actually tells of the resistance and resilience of Jacksonville\u2019s Gullah Geechee community here and the ability of this population to change the nation,\u201d said Ennis Davis, Founder of Community Planning Collaborate. <\/p>\n Not only will the trail preserve LaVilla\u2019s history, city leaders also hope it will bring more people to the area. <\/p>\n \u201cIt complements the creation of Lyft Ev\u2019ry Voice & Sing the restoration and interpretation of historic landmarks. The preservation of cultural assets,\u201d said Jacksonville City Councilwoman Ju\u2019Coby Pittman.<\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/a>]<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s intended to help foster walkability to create more economic opportunity for the revitalization of the neighborhood,\u201d Davis said. <\/p>\n Davis served as the project manager for the trail.
