JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) \u2013 Prosecutors dropped rape charges this week against a man after the victim was arrested for negligent homicide in Florida.<\/p>\n
Second Judicial Circuit Judge Scott Ellington signed an order of nolle prosequi in the case against Alejandro Rosales-Navarro.<\/p>\n
The deputy prosecuting attorney stated in the request that the victim was unavailable as a witness \u201cdue to negligent homicide arrest\/incarceration in Florida\u201d and said it was in the best interest of justice that the charges be nolle prossed.<\/p>\n
Jonesboro police arrested Rosales in May 2024 after the alleged victim reported he forced them to have sex.<\/p>\n
The victim told police they had been swimming and drinking when Rosales led them to his vehicle. The victim, according to the affidavit, said they could \u201cbarely walk\u201d due to their level of intoxication.<\/p>\n
The victim said Rosales forced them into the back of his vehicle, removed their clothing, and began to have sex with them.<\/p>\n
Rosales admitted during a Mirandized interview with police to having consensual sex with the victim, court documents said. But he did not remember if they had been drinking that day.<\/p>\n
