The old cans have been removed from these spaces. They are designed to be more hygienic with a foot pedal at the bottom that opens the can, so guests don\u2019t have to directly touch the potentially dirty lid.<\/p>\n<p><a data-fslightbox=\"1\" data-type=\"image\" aria-label=\"Open fullscreen lightbox with current image\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/epcot-solar-powered-trash-cans-4204-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1920\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/epcot-solar-powered-trash-cans-4204-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Disney continues to install new solar-powered trash cans with foot pedals throughout World Showcase in EPCOT.\" class=\"wp-image-1442859\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The openings are smaller than the older cans, and we\u2019ve seen some guests confused about how to open the cans. This means that the cans can hold more trash because everything gets compacted. They are not a flat surface, however, so using the cans as a table top are now much harder.<\/p>\n<p>Disney confirmed the solar-powered cans will be <a href=\"https:\/\/wdwnt.com\/2026\/06\/confirmed-solar-powered-trash-cans-rolling-out-to-more-locations-across-walt-disney-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" aria-describedby=\"external-link-warning\">installed throughout Walt Disney World<\/a> and that Walt Disney Imagineering is helping design them.<\/p>\n<p>What do you think of these new trash cans?
