The Tennessee football team picked up two more commitments on Saturday from linebacker Kenneth Simon Jr. and Q\u2019Mari Hudson. Josh Heupel and his staff have been dominant on the recruiting trail as of late.<\/p>\n

The Volunteers may be close to landing another commitment from wide receiver target Dayon Cooper. The South Pittsburg, Tennessee native recently wrapped up his official visit. He is currently committed to Florida State, but as a defensive player.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen FSU took the commitment of the 6-foot, 180-pound athlete, it was for him to play in the secondary. Cornerbacks coach Blue Adams had led his recruitment and intends to be his future position coach. In recent weekends, Cooper has begun to show an interest in playing slot receiver at the next level. It has caused a wrinkle in his recruitment and commitment,\u201d 247 Sports\u2019 Chris Nee wrote.<\/p>\n

Tennessee has aggressively pursued Cooper, and it is beginning to look like a real possibility that he could flip.<\/p>\n

Cooper appeared to have a strong visit to Knoxville this week as he continues to prioritize playing wide receiver and is aware of the success Tennessee has had at the position under Heupel. He was even pictured wearing Tennessee gear during his visit.<\/p>\n

Cooper is an elusive playmaker on the outside who could become a major threat for the Volunteers. According to his X account<\/a>, he runs a 4.5 40-yard dash, which is exactly the type of speed that appeals to Heupel\u2019s offense.
