JACKSONVILLE, N.C. \u2014 A Jacksonville man is facing multiple charges after police say he led officers on a pursuit that reached 100 miles per hour before running into a home and attempting to avoid arrest.<\/p>\n
According to arrest records, Johnson Ly, 20, of Jacksonville, was arrested Saturday, June 13, by the Jacksonville Police Department and charged with felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, failure to heed a light or siren, reckless driving to endanger, resisting a public officer, speeding, expired registration, and expired or no vehicle inspection.<\/p>\n
Charging documents state the incident began on Gum Branch Road and Onsville Road when Ly allegedly failed to stop for an officer, who was attempting to conduct a traffic stop.<\/p>\n
Investigators allege Ly sped away from officers, reaching speeds between 70 and 100 miles per hour in 35 and 45 mile-per-hour zones.<\/p>\n
Court records state Ly failed to stop despite emergency lights and sirens and drove recklessly in a manner that endangered people and property.<\/p>\n
After the pursuit ended, authorities allege Ly ran into a house, opened the door and then attempted to lie about driving the vehicle before being taken into custody.<\/p>\n
Ly was transported to the Onslow County Detention Center, where he was given no bond.<\/p>\n
