{"id":308522,"date":"2026-06-15T23:16:19","date_gmt":"2026-06-15T23:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/308522\/"},"modified":"2026-06-15T23:16:19","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T23:16:19","slug":"history-takes-flight-americas-founding-documents-touch-down-in-miami","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/308522\/","title":{"rendered":"History takes flight: America\u2019s founding documents touch down in Miami"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI \u2014 Several pieces of American history are in South Florida. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A specially-designed <a href=\"https:\/\/freedomplane.org\/the-documents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/freedomplane.org\/the-documents\/\">\u201dFreedom Plane&#8221; is bringing the country\u2019s original founding documents<\/a> across the U.S. as part of the nation\u2019s 250th anniversary celebration. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">National Archives Foundation CEO Patrick Madden explained how the documents are traveling in style, in temperature-controlled cases inside the passenger cabin of a Boeing 737 donated to the foundation for this national tour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cFor the first time, nine original documents from the holdings of the National Archives vault have traveled to Miami,\u201d said Madden. \u201cI think the number one thing people are going to be excited to see is the copy of the Declaration of Independence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Miami is one of just eight cities chosen for the honor of hosting the document that started a new nation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIdeas that have stood the test of time and have become a living democracy that has evolved, endured,\u201d said Madden. \u201cMiami for us is a major market. It is a hub of international activity and the community really represents what these documents represent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The documents <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/museumofmiami.org\/exhibition\/documents-that-forged-a-nation\/__;!!FfvXB3Q!gh_GTpBdJyEv2FBizmly8QhS2iPIN4HPjU54cf5kiEnAFBtIDYk1xN7dOq96T7H2RUuv4abvCjce9V7UyiTxEjnWMZc$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/\/museumofmiami.org\/exhibition\/documents-that-forged-a-nation\/__;!!FfvXB3Q!gh_GTpBdJyEv2FBizmly8QhS2iPIN4HPjU54cf5kiEnAFBtIDYk1xN7dOq96T7H2RUuv4abvCjce9V7UyiTxEjnWMZc$\">will be displayed at History Miami Museum<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cI think it speaks volumes for what Miami is, a city built by people who have come from all over the world, with hope, seeking opportunity and believing in the American promise,\u201d said History Miami Museum CEO Natalia Crujeiras.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The historic parchments provide a glimpse at how framers came to America\u2019s promise through negotiation and compromise, such as the 1789 Senate markup of the Bill of Rights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cEditing Article 3, which eventually becomes our First Amendment, so literally this is the day that they are debating what should be in the First Amendment, what should not be in the First Amendment.
