World leaders say the memorandum of understanding could mark a turning point, potentially reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping. But with few details publicly released, many questions remain about the durability and scope of the deal.<\/p>\n

The agreement, which has been digitally signed, has not yet been made public in full.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want it to be released because it\u2019s a very powerful document,\u201d said President Trump.<\/p>\n

According to officials, the initial phase includes both countries lifting certain restrictions, followed by 60 days of negotiations focused on Iran\u2019s nuclear program and the potential for sanctions relief.<\/p>\n

The announcement is already affecting global markets, with oil prices dropping and gas prices declining nationwide. The Trump administration says any long-term economic relief will depend on Iran following through on its commitments.<\/p>\n

In Jacksonville, reactions from members of the Iranian community are divided.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have much hope for this MOU to begin with,\u201d said Ali Samiian, a Jacksonville resident. \u201cIt is going to be, I think at best, temporary. Nobody on either side is particularly interested in long-term solving of the problems.\u201d<\/p>\n

Samira Meymand echoed that skepticism, expressing doubt about the reliability of any agreement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no such thing as negotiation. They can sign a paper today. They can shred it tomorrow,\u201d Meymand said. \u201cThe only option with the Islamic Republic of Iran is to use full force and to remove the regime.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others, however, say the agreement is a step in the right direction.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to actually read the details of it, but again I know it’s gonna go back and forth for months on end, but just the fact that they\u2019re seriously negotiating and stopping the fight, I think that\u2019s good news,\u201d said Maryam, another Jacksonville resident.<\/p>\n
