{"id":309357,"date":"2026-06-16T16:46:20","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T16:46:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/309357\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T16:46:20","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T16:46:20","slug":"surveillance-video-captures-explosion-at-miami-dade-fire-rescue-facility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/309357\/","title":{"rendered":"Surveillance video captures explosion at Miami-Dade Fire Rescue facility"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla.  \u2014 Surveillance video obtained by Local 10 News shows an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/06\/15\/at-least-1-hospitalized-after-possible-gas-explosion-at-miami-dade-maintenance-facility\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/news\/local\/2026\/06\/15\/at-least-1-hospitalized-after-possible-gas-explosion-at-miami-dade-maintenance-facility\/\">explosion that occurred Monday morning <\/a>at a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue logistics facility that left one person dead and four others injured.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2026\/06\/16\/video-de-vigilancia-capta-explosion-en-instalacion-de-miami-dade-fire-rescue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.local10.com\/espanol\/2026\/06\/16\/video-de-vigilancia-capta-explosion-en-instalacion-de-miami-dade-fire-rescue\/\">Leer en espa\u00f1ol<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The blast was so strong, it blew a hole in an awning and sent people nearby scattering to safety.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The destruction was still on display Tuesday, with damaged fuel pumps sealed off and the shattered overhang above.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff\u2019s Office, the explosion occurred just after 10 a.m. Monday at 6100 SW 87th Ave., just south of Snapper Creek.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIt shook the whole neighborhood,\u201d Stephanie Galvez, who lives nearby, said. \u201cAll of a sudden, there was a loud boom from like behind the house and the house, for a moment, felt like it was shaking and we had no idea what was going on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz, an explosion appeared to have caused a fire at the facility.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Officials said one person was killed and four others were injured, including an MDSO lieutenant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to the sheriff, the lieutenant and another person were transported to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital and a third victim was transported to another hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police said a fourth victim drove themself to a nearby hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">One of the victims is in critical condition, but all of the victims are stable, according to MDSO.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Miami-Dade Fire Chief Ray Jadallah, meanwhile, confirmed that after the explosion, crews found an overhang that was destroyed and an active fire coming from underground.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He said there was vapor coming from below ground and they are still investigating whether it might have been from a gasoline vault.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cFrom what we see, it may have been a gasoline cell that\u2019s underground,\u201d Jadallah said. \u201cThere\u2019s three vaults underground. I believe there may have been some work that was being conducted, but we\u2019re conducting that investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">MDSO officials confirmed that homicide detectives have assumed the investigation.
