For travelers ready to live out their Miley Cyrus era, hopping off the plane at LAX<\/a> and heading to the land of \u201cfame excess,\u201d a new nonstop route will take off this fall from Broward County.<\/p>\n

United Airlines is expanding its West Coast reach from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport with new service to Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

The Chicago-based carrier will operate the route with the airline\u2019s Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraf<\/a>t<\/a>, which seats 179 passengers, according to aviation website Simple Flying.<\/p>\n

United ranked as fifth-busiest airline at FLL<\/a> in April, accounting for 8.3% of its flight share, according to airport data. The airline trailed Spirit, which is no longer in business, as well as JetBlue, Delta and Southwest.<\/p>\n

The carrier is scheduled to launch the new route Oct. 29 with flights operating five times a week.<\/p>\n

Service will increase to twice daily during the winter holiday travel season<\/a>, from Dec. 17 to Jan. 4.<\/p>\n

From Jan. 7 until March 8, the route will operate 12 times per week, before returning to twice-daily service starting March 9, Aeroroutes reported.<\/p>\n

Travelers will have two departures to choose from: an early-morning option at around 8:30 and one in the afternoon at 2:30.<\/p>\n

United is among several airlines looking to fill in the demand that Spirit\u2019s collapse left behind at Broward\u2019s largest airport.<\/p>\n

JetBlue remains the largest carrier between Los Angeles and Fort Lauderdale.<\/p>\n
