JACKSONVILLE, N.C. \u2014 A Jacksonville man is facing numerous charges after police say he fled from an attempted traffic stop and drove at speeds topping 120 miles per hour through the city.<\/p>\n
According to charging documents, 21-year-old Hayden Marshall is charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, along with multiple traffic offenses, including speeding, unsafe lane changes, running red lights and stop signs, driving without liability insurance, and hit-and-run involving property damage.<\/p>\n
Investigators say a Jacksonville police officer attempted to stop Marshall on Gum Branch Road on Tuesday. Charging documents allege Marshall accelerated away, reaching speeds of 120 miles per hour in a 45-mile-per-hour zone on Gum Branch Road and 93 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone on Onsville Drive.<\/p>\n
Authorities also allege Marshall made multiple unsafe lane changes at high speeds and ran several red lights during the incident.<\/p>\n
According to charging documents, Marshall was involved in a crash near Gum Branch Road and U.S. 17 that resulted in more than $1,000 in property damage. Investigators allege he struck traffic signal guide wires and failed to stop afterward.<\/p>\n
