{"id":310341,"date":"2026-06-17T11:11:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T11:11:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/310341\/"},"modified":"2026-06-17T11:11:13","modified_gmt":"2026-06-17T11:11:13","slug":"crews-in-south-florida-now-battling-2-everglades-wildfires-3500-acre-quarry-2-fire-and-450-acre-well-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/310341\/","title":{"rendered":"Crews in South Florida now battling 2 Everglades wildfires; 3500-acre Quarry 2 Fire and 450-acre Well Fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-17-001252-e1781680462440-300x169.png\" class=\"attachment-medium size-medium wp-image-1141372\" alt=\"\"   loading=\"eager\"\/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>VIDEO: Crews in west Miami-Dade are continuing their battle against the Quarry 2 Fire, which broke out on Monday afternoon, and now battling the Well Fire, which broke out on Tuesday, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and impacting air quality in surrounding communities.<\/p>\n<p>As of Tuesday afternoon, the Quarry 2 Fire has scorched about 3,500 acres and was only 20% contained, according to Florida\u2019s Active Wildfire Points map. <\/p>\n<p>Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials fear the fire could grow to 12,000 acres given its location and the current dry conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s burning pretty good. It\u2019s got a lot of space to burn,\u201d said Kevin MacEwen of the Florida Forest Service. \u201cIf we don\u2019t get some rain on it, it\u2019s going to burn for a few days and get much bigger than that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Well Fire has scorched about 450 acres and was only 10% contained.<\/p>\n<p>The Quarry 2 Fire broke out Monday around 3 p.m. just west of Doral, near Northwest 137th Avenue and Northwest 41st Street.
