How will changing the name benefit Coral Springs, Miramar or Pembroke Park?<\/p>\n
As a Coral Springs resident, I do not tell people I live \u201cnear Fort Lauderdale.\u201d I tell them where I actually live.<\/p>\n
The businesses that advocates of the name change hope to benefit will be in Fort Lauderdale, not the county as a whole. The Gold Coast has plenty of business already. Changing the name in the hope that Republicans will treat the county differently is pie-in-the-sky, wishful thinking.<\/p>\n
Udine says he \u201chears it (changing the name) all the time\u201d from the business community. If that is true, why is it just now coming to the public\u2019s attention? In my 22 years of living in Broward, this is the first time I\u2019ve heard of the idea.<\/p>\n
The excuse is that Dade County changed its name in 1997, but it didn\u2019t take much heavy lifting to add Miami to its name. Changing to Lauderdale County is totally different. But go ahead, put it on the ballot and let voters decide.<\/p>\n

Have you lived on your own for a whole 10 years and been a naturalized citizen for seven years?<\/a> Would you like the minimum wage to be $30 per hour? Have you been endorsed by Bernie Sanders?
