U.S. Sens. Ashley Moody<\/a>\u00a0and Rick Scott<\/a> have landed nearly $1 billion in federal funding that will be distributed to several military installations in Florida.<\/p>\n

They both announced that the funding will be provided through the Senate National Defense Authorization Act<\/a> approved this year. The money directed to Florida amounts to $935 million.<\/p>\n

The funding is part of a spending package to support military personnel, installations and defense industrial bases in Florida. Moody said the funding is earmarked for projects throughout the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n

\u201cSupporting our armed forces is not just my job \u2014 as a mom in a military family, it is personal to me. These wins are not just allocated dollars; they are a down payment on the future of our military in Florida, aimed at strengthening the state\u2019s installations and defense industrial base,\u201d Moody said in a news release<\/a> Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is such an honor to serve on the Senate Armed Services Committee<\/a> and deliver real, tangible wins back to our state. I have worked from day one on this Committee to ensure our military remains the most capable and well supported fighting force in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scott was equally enthused with the funding slated for the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n

\u201cFlorida is home to thousands of servicemen and women who put on a uniform every day and put their lives on the line to protect our country,\u201d Scott said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur state hosts more than 20 military installations and three combatant commands. I am pleased to see so many critical provisions have been included in this year\u2019s version of the bill that will help Florida, our warfighters, and our national security.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump still has to formally sign the legislation, but when that happens, the funding will be implemented in the federal 2027 fiscal year budget.<\/p>\n

Key projects that will receive the funding include the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station with support for the Eastern Range and the nation\u2019s busiest launch site. Projects include a new command facility, base support and communications warehouses.<\/p>\n

In addition, funding will go to support a launch facility,\u00a0 security forces, vehicle maintenance facilities and a missile-defense test facility.<\/p>\n

Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City is also slated for some of the funding to enhance gate projects at the facility and provide a fire and crash rescue station.<\/p>\n

In Fort Walton Beach, Eglin Air Force Base will get funding to help with enhancing recruit training capacity and design funding for a hangar and physical fitness complex on the grounds of the installation.<\/p>\n

Homestead Air Force Reserve Base in South Florida will be getting a climate-controlled tactical storage warehouse.<\/p>\n

The First Coast is getting funding for several installations in that region including money for Naval Air Station Jacksonville for the addition of a power generation grid. The Camp Blanding\u2019s Florida National Guard installation will add a multipurpose training range, and the Marine Corps Support Facility on Blount Island will modernize the communications infrastructure at the installation.<\/p>\n

And the Naval Air Station in Key West is set for funding to construct a command-and-control facility.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"U.S. Sens.
