{"id":31129,"date":"2025-11-03T11:43:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-03T11:43:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/31129\/"},"modified":"2025-11-03T11:43:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-03T11:43:09","slug":"jacksonville-isd-cancels-classes-due-to-manhunt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/31129\/","title":{"rendered":"Jacksonville ISD cancels classes due to manhunt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KLTV) &#8211; Jacksonville ISD has announced the cancellation of classes for Monday due to an ongoing manhunt in part of the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The district announced the closure early Monday, citing a large law enforcement response to the shooting of a police officer on the north side of town.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cA large area near several JISD facilities will be inaccessible for bus routes and may prevent many families and students from traveling safely to school today,\u201d a news release stated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe safety and security of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as law enforcement continues their efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A statewide DPS Blue Alert was issued Sunday night for 64-year-old Bobby Michael Dennis, who is accused of shooting a Jacksonville Police officer during an encounter on Churchill Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Investigators said Dennis was believed to be armed with a rifle and told nearby residents to stay in their homes and lock their doors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The unidentified officer is recovering after surgery at a Tyler hospital.
