{"id":311947,"date":"2026-06-18T16:45:11","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T16:45:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/311947\/"},"modified":"2026-06-18T16:45:11","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T16:45:11","slug":"united-way-of-lee-hendry-and-glades-partners-with-foundation-for-lee-county-public-schools-to-celebrate-teachers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/311947\/","title":{"rendered":"United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades partners with Foundation for Lee County Public Schools to celebrate teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With summer in full swing, United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades, along with the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools are celebrating Lee County teachers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 320 teachers lined up around the Foundation offices in downtown Fort Myers recently and were showered with gifts as a show of appreciation for all that they do for Lee County students. Teachers left with air purifiers, office chairs, filing cabinets, seasonal decorations and more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event took place on June 10 at 7:30 a.m., though some teachers arrived as early as 4 a.m. for a chance to receive some of the more coveted items.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s overwhelming to hear some of their comments,\u201d said Hannah Pelle, Interim CEO of United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades. \u201cThey are just so thrilled to have extra items for their classroom and we\u2019re thrilled to help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAll of them told me how much they appreciate what we do for them and how much we recognize just how important they are to the community,\u201d said Marshall Bower, President and CEO of the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools. \u201cA lot of times you hear that teachers have to dig into their own pockets for supplies. That\u2019s true. It\u2019s something we want to help them with and get the supplies that they need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nearly $200,000 worth of items were available for teachers.
