The green areas are a level one out of five.

However, a few isolated severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts remain possible across the southeastern portion of the area over the next several hours. Meanwhile, a slow-moving band of very heavy rain will continue pushing south and east of the I-65 corridor through the evening. This band is capable of producing 2 to 3 inches of rain in a short amount of time, making flash flooding likely in some locations.

We are also closely monitoring the potential for a second band of heavy rain and thunderstorms to develop across inland southeast Mississippi and interior southwest Alabama. Some forecast models suggest this activity could strengthen this evening between Highway 84 and Interstate 10, which would increase the threat for significant flash flooding in those areas.

While there is still uncertainty regarding how widespread this redevelopment may become, trends will continue to be monitored closely. Rain and storm coverage should decrease after midnight, providing a brief lull overnight. However, numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to redevelop Friday morning and continue into the afternoon, bringing another round of heavy rainfall and renewed flash flooding concerns.

A Flood Watch remains in effect for the entire area through 6 p.m. Friday, and most locations remain under a Moderate Risk for excessive rainfall.

Comment with Bubbles

JOIN THE CONVERSATION (3)

Dangerous beach conditions are also occurring along the northern Gulf Coast. A high risk of rip currents continues at area beaches, and beachgoers should use extreme caution if entering the water. When double red flags are flying, the Gulf waters are closed to swimming. While the beach itself remains open, entering the Gulf is prohibited due to the life-threatening surf and rip current conditions if double red flags fly.

A Tornado Watch for Northwest Florida, Southwest Alabama, and other parts of the northern Gulf Coast expired at…

[6
28,30,29
post-312460","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-florida","tag-florida","tag-florida-headlines","tag-florida-news
["GET
