It was 80% contained as of Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It led to several road closures in Miami-Dade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Officials continued to close Krome Avenue between Okeechobee Road and Southwest Eighth Street. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Additionally, on Friday, officials closed the southbound lanes of Florida\u2019s Turnpike from Okeechobee Road to Northwest 41st Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">State troopers also closed Southwest Eighth Street, also known as the Tamiami Trail, from Krome Avenue to State Road 29 in Collier County.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Ash from three brush fires drifted for miles during the week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Patrick Mahoney, with the Florida Forest Service, said the weather hasn\u2019t helped.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cHeat and wind has been an issue, but also the drought,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean, it\u2019s still very dry through here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Bad conditions led to crews across several agencies working around the clock to stop the blaze from spreading from above. Helicopters dumped buckets of water on the inferno.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cOur firefighters are doing a great job,\u201d Mahoney said. \u201cThis is what we train for.
