MIAMI (WSVN) – The soccer showdown between Brazil and Haiti had many fans across South Florida excited.<\/p>\n
On one side, Brazil is a historic superpower. On the other hand, Haiti is making its second World Cup appearance. <\/p>\n
Brazil won their match on Friday night, putting them in an excellent position to punch their ticket to the round of 32. <\/p>\n
Before fans arrived at the gates to the inside of the Miami FIFA Fan Festival at Bayfront Park, Brazil fans were fired up for the group match.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were planning this trip for some time. I live in the U.S. in Missouri, all of them live in Brazil, so we are fired up to be here and celebrate,\u201d said Brazil fan Wagner Protossimo.<\/p>\n
\u201cGo Brazil!\u201d said another Brazil fan. <\/p>\n
Fans poured into the festival to watch the match, and although Haitian fans were outnumbered, they were not outdone. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe have to represent for our country. Of course not, of course not, the pride of Haiti is on the line. Everyone is going to show up whether they\u2019re at home or here. We\u2019re always gonna show up in spirit or physical,\u201d said Haiti fan Nicole Vincent. <\/p>\n
\u201cDefinitely. But that\u2019s normal, that\u2019s to be expected. But you know, Haitians are resilient; we\u2019re ready for the fight. Hopefully, we get the victory here today,\u201d said Haiti fan Sebastian Petit. <\/p>\n
Brazil was the heavy favorite coming into the game as they brought in the first goal, which made Brazil fans rise to their feet. <\/p>\n
It was a night of fun and a long time coming for some fans.<\/p>\n
\u201cSoccer or football for us is something, for us to be here with all our friends is amazing, Brazil! Brazil! Brazil!\u201d said a soccer fan. <\/p>\n
In Miami\u2019s Boteco, 7News cameras captured fans and employees enjoying Brazilian soccer and pride.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re good. I\u2019m super excited. The vibes are super up,\u201d said a soccer fan. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s Brazilians, it\u2019s amazing to be with our people here to reunite for the World Cup. It\u2019s an amazing experience,\u201d said a soccer fan. <\/p>\n
Fans had Brazilian soccer shirts and were cheering to the camera as they had high hopes for their team.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe atmosphere is amazing, the people are amazing, the food is amazing,\u201d said a soccer fan. <\/p>\n
\u201cSo excited. I\u2019m not even Brazilian, but I feel the Brazilian energy. We\u2019re all Brazilian,\u201d said a soccer fan. <\/p>\n
There were so many people at the restaurant that its parking lot became an extended sitting area for fans.<\/p>\n
Staff members were prepared to become fully packed as every seat was reserved.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s always sold out, it\u2019s always reserved because we\u2019re just that good,\u201d said a Boteco employee. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t have anymore chairs,\u201d said owner Michael Gerges. \u201cWe\u2019re number one Brazilian bar in Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brazil\u2019s next match is against Scotland on Wednesday evening. <\/p>\n
