MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. \u2014 The National Weather Service announced<\/a> on Saturday that there was an Air Quality Alert<\/a> in effect until 10 a.m. on Sunday in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. <\/p>\n

The alert mostly impacted \u201cunusually sensitive people\u201d who need to \u201dconsider making outdoor activities light and short” and \u201cgo inside to cleaner air\u201d if they have symptoms, according<\/a> to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.<\/p>\n

NWS meteorologists warned that \u201cnear surface smoke\u201d is likely to worsen into Saturday night, as \u201cthunderstorm winds<\/a> cause spreading into populated areas followed by poor dispersion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two wildfires between Krome Avenue and the Florida Turnpike had burned more than 20,000 acres and were mostly contained by Saturday afternoon. <\/p>\n

The Florida Forest Service reported<\/a> the wildfire known as \u201cThe Quarry 2\u2033 had burned 19,003 acres and was 100% contained, and a wildfire known as \u201cWell\u201d had burned 1,525 acres and was 70% contained. <\/p>\n
