{"id":314856,"date":"2026-06-21T15:06:06","date_gmt":"2026-06-21T15:06:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/314856\/"},"modified":"2026-06-21T15:06:06","modified_gmt":"2026-06-21T15:06:06","slug":"krome-avenue-and-floridas-turnpike-reopen-as-brush-fires-continue-to-burn-nbc-6-south-florida","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/314856\/","title":{"rendered":"Krome Avenue and Florida\u2019s Turnpike reopen as brush fires continue to burn \u2013 NBC 6 South Florida"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As several brush fires continue to burn in Miami-Dade County, roadways that were closed have been reopened on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Florida Department of Transportation, all lanes along State Road 997\/Krome Avenue and Southwest 177th Avenue between U.S. 41\/SR 90 and Tamiami Trail have been reopened.<\/p>\n<p>All Lanes of the Florida Turnpike between Northwest 41st Street\/Doral Boulevard and U.S.\/SR 25\/Okeechobee Road have also reopened.<\/p>\n<p>Three wildfires have been burning in Miami-Dade for several days.<\/p>\n<p>According to officials, three fires remain active.<\/p>\n<p>The largest, the Quarry Fire, has burned more than 19,000 acres and is now 97% contained.<\/p>\n<p>The Well Fire has grown to 1,425 acres and is 75% contained, and the Corrections Fire has burned more than 120 acres and has not been contained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRight now, dry air and windy conditions are increasing the risk of fast- moving grass fires,\u201d said Erika Benitez with the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.<br \/>Officials are asking residents to take caution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease avoid burning any yard debris on windy days,&#8221; Benitez said. &#8220;Never throw cigarettes out of your vehicle and avoid grilling near dry grassy areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Officials are also warning residents to protect themselves as smoke continues to impact air quality.<\/p>\n<p>The fires have also forced evacuations.<\/p>\n<p>But there is some good news tonight.<\/p>\n<p>The Miami-Dade Sheriff&#8217;s Office posted on X that residents of Jones Fish Camp who were forced to leave can now return home.<\/p>\n<p>The American Red Cross said it is still providing shelter and support to six people and a cat displaced by the fires.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"As several brush fires continue to burn in Miami-Dade County, roadways that were closed have been reopened on&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":314857,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[9],"tags":[123,125,124,373],"class_list":["post-314856","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-miami","tag-miami","tag-miami-headlines","tag-miami-news","tag-miami-dade-county"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/314856","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=314856"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/314856\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/314857"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=314856"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=314856"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-fl\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=314856"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
