Almost everyone can sense it. Many want it to happen. The anticipatory buzz has become quite literally tiring.\u00a0<\/p>\n
When will it finally happen?\u00a0<\/p>\n

You want this dude? You building your roster is not our problem. That\u2019s a you problem. If I\u2019m speaking as the Bucks, it is, \u2019You want this guy? So give us everything we want.\u2019\u201d (h\/t @HeatCulture13 on X<\/a>)<\/p>\n While it might seem the Bucks\u2019 asking price for Antetokounmpo is outrageous, Owczarski highlighted the unprecedented nature of the franchise trading its 10-time All-Star, arguing that perhaps only Shaquille O\u2019Neal\u2019s trade from the Los Angeles Lakers<\/a> to the Miami Heat in 2004 is a comparable scenario.<\/p>\n With Milwaukee looking to pivot from Antetokounmpo while still hoping to remain competitive, it makes sense that the franchise wants to receive the largest variety of assets in exchange for Antetokounmpo.<\/p>\n Despite the Celtics Lurking, Miami Looks to Be in the Driver\u2019s Seat GettyMIAMI, FLORIDA \u2013 APRIL 01: Jaylen Brown<\/a> #7 of the Boston Celtics drives to the basket against Kel\u2019el Ware #7 of the Miami Heat during the first quarter of the game at Kaseya Center on April 01, 2026 in Miami, Florida.<\/p>\n It has come down to Miami and Boston, though ESPN\u2019s Ramona Shelburne reported Sunday that the Minnesota Timberwolves<\/a> are also a serious contender for Antetokounmpo.<\/p>\n But the Heat has been in the forefront of Antetokounmpo trade talks for months; there is logical reason to believe the built up familiarity with Milwaukee alone puts Miami in a strong position to execute a blockbuster.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Heat may be leading the race, but Miami shouldn\u2019t expect Milwaukee to lower Antetokounmpo\u2019s price even if no other team emerges with a stronger offer.<\/p>\n However, Miami does have the multiple categories of assets the Bucks are seeking in an Antetokounmpo trade.<\/p>\n Said ESPN\u2019s Bobby Marks: \u201cWhen you look at Giannis, it\u2019s the superstar checklist of three things Miami has: a win-now player \u2026 and then it\u2019s the draft picks \u2026 I do think Miami, right now, has the best package out there.\u201d<\/p>\n Unless there\u2019s a surprise in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes, the Heat appears to have the upper hand from an asset standpoint and by being Antetokounmpo\u2019s preferred team.<\/p>\n Plenty has been speculated about how willing Antetokounmpo would be to sign a contract extension with whichever team he is traded to.
