TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) \u2013 Dozens of people took part in a community jam session Sunday, recognizing National Music Day at Cascades Park.<\/p>\n
Sahara Lyon-Mundy attended the local community event. \u201cIt\u2019s really important to highlight local musicians, have spaces where people can come out, be with each other, be with the community, and celebrate live music in Tallahassee,\u201d Lyon-Mundy said. <\/p>\n
She is part of the Council on Culture and Arts (COCA), which hosted Sunday\u2019s event. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like a very organic setting in which to play music,\u201d Lyon-Mundy said. \u201cIt\u2019s basically a music circle where people are invited to come out, bring their instruments and partake in music-making. So you don\u2019t have to have a band. You don\u2019t have to have a group.\u201d <\/p>\n
She said there is an abundance of talent in Tallahassee and events like the community jam are a way to showcase that talent, while bringing musicians together. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s kind of like a universal language,\u201d Lyon-Mundy said. <\/p>\n
