Police have arrested the ex-boyfriend of a woman found injured in the lobby of a Jacksonville apartment building.<\/p>\n
A caller told dispatchers about 5:22 a.m. Saturday that he found a woman in the lobby of 500 W. State St. who he thought had been strangled.<\/p>\n
Officers who arrived did not see any indication of a strangulation, “but did see she was bruised on the rest of her body,” according to Jacksonville Police Lt. Sean Walker.<\/p>\n
The woman declined being taken to the hospital, Walker said.<\/p>\n
About an hour later, police arrested a man who lives in the same apartment building. He is said to be the woman’s ex-boyfriend, according to a police report.<\/p>\n
The 26-year-old Jacksonville man was arrested on a domestic battery charge.\u00a0He is accused of “striking his ex-girlfriend, causing injuries,” according to the arrest report.<\/p>\n
He was being held Monday in Morgan County Detention Facility, according to jail records.
